Morris Mini De Luxe Automatic
In September 1967 the Mini De Luxe had the automatic transmission as an option.

An "Automatic" badge was placed above "Morris Mini Deluxe" on the boot lid.

The engine prefixes for the De Luxe are 9YA/Ta/H and 9YA/U/H.

Morris Mini-Matic MK1
In February 1968 the Morris Mini-Matic MK1 model was released in Australia.

This is the time where the Mini-Matic became a model of Mini and not an optional extra.

The early MK1 Mini-Matics had an engine prefix of 9AN/A/H, the later Mini-Matics had 99H/119/H.

Morris Mini-Matic MK2
In September 1968 the Morris Mini-Matic MK2 model was released in Australia.

The engine prefix for the MK2 is always 99H/119/H.

The Morris Mini-Matic MK2 production ended Feb 1969.

Manual vs Automatic notable differences

Selector
The gear selector (a.k.a. shifter) is placed in the same location as the later model manual gear stick.
The hole where the remote gear linkage would connect to the gear selector does not exist.

The hole where the 850 style magic wand would normally be is used to pass through the shifter cable (that connects the shifter to the gearbox).

Fresh air heater
The De Luxe had the fresh air heater as an option, the automatic models now fitted the heater as standard.

Clutch pedal
The clutch pedal was replaced with a spacer.

Front subframe
The engine mounts are fitted lower on the frame to allow for the extra height added by the automatic gearbox.
The front rail on the frame is shaped differently to allow the gearbox to squeeze in.

Transmission protection bar
A transmission protection bar is mounted to the front of the subframe.

Lume
The lume has extra wiring to cater for the neutral inhibitor switch on the gear selector.

Power Increase
The 1 1/4" SU was replaced by the 1 1/2" SU.

Compression has been raised from 8.3:1 to 9:1 plus a new type of air filter was added.

Cooling
A bigger radiator, a more efficient water pump and a plastic high efficiency fan was fitted.

Identification
Identification points are confined to a badge on the boot lid and the quadrant on the floor.
