FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Disconnect battery positive cable from battery.
  2. Remove radiator grille.
  3. Drain water from radiator and remove lower radiator hose.
  4. Fit new lower radiator hose and secure with new clips supplied.
  5. Remove dash blanking cover and replace with angled adaptor (1) in kit, using existing seal. If seal is damaged reseal with "Prestik" or similar compound.
  6. The R/H Valance panel on early models will not be pierced to take a 'U' type bottom Heater Box Mounting Brackets. For ease of drilling the lower 2 holes remove road wheel, place template with the printed side against the outside of the valance and drill from this position.
  7. Fit 'U' type mounting brackets and secure with nuts and spring washers supplied. Clip Heater Box into position and secure using hexagonal head screws and spring washers supplied.
  8. Fit flexible air hose (2) first to Heater Box and then to angled adaptor on dash, using clips supplied. Make sure this clears the Hydrolastic hose to avoid chafing.
  9. Fit heater pipe (3) to manifold using existing fixings and hose clip supplied.
  10. Remove cover plate and replace with water elbow and gasket (4).
  11. Fit inlet hose (5) to water elbow and lower connection on heater core, and securewith H 498 hose clips supplied.
  12. Fit outlet hose (6) to heater pipe and upper connection on heater core, leaving upper clip slack for bleeding air from system.
  13. Remove choke cable, taking care not to bend or kink it. If choke cable previously fitted through hole shown in sketch for heater control cable (7), shorten both innerand outer sections by 2" each, fit bezel (12) and refit through hole in dash panelabout 5" lower than previously. Should the latter hole be absent, drill 3/8" throughdash panel. Should the choke cable be fitted through a hole other than that shown insketch for heater control cable (7), fit bezel (12) and replace.
  14. Remove cover button from control panel and fit heater control cable (7) and bezel(12), piercing grommet in dash panel if necessary.
  15. Push heater control fully in and with control lever on heater box fully forward, takeup slack in outer cable by pushing it gently forward. The outer cable should then bein its correct position and can be clamped.
  16. If demister ducting (8 & 9) not already fitted, carefully remove R.H. dash cover, fold back parcel tray cover and insulation felt. Fix cover plate (10) firmly intocorner of parcel tray with No. 6 self tapping screws supplied; the holes for these should be drilled with a No. 36 (0.1O6") drill. When viewed from above, the hole inthe cover plate located 1/2" from its two adjacent sides should be nearest the rear aidright of the car and the hole nearest the centre of the cover plate should be overthe centre of the hole in the parcel tray comer.
  17. Locate deflector assembly (11) by means of centre hole on cover plate and secure withNo. 10 self-tapping screw provided. If not already drilled, drill second fixing holewith No. 29 (0.136") drill and secure similarly.
  18. If demister ducting not already fitted, assemble lower demister duct (9) with upperdemister duct (8) in position. Holes for fixing lower duct should be marked anddrilled with a No. 36 drill. Care should be taken to fit ducts as closely to adjacentpanels as possible for good sealing. Trim insulation felt as necessary to cleardemister duct and refit. Replace parcel tray and dash covering.
  19. Fill cooling system and secure upper heater hose clip when water flows from it (toprime heater system). Reconnect battery and run engine. Check for and rectify anywater leakage, and top up radiator.
  20. Reassemble all disconnected parts
